Learn the nuts and bolts of how the following bills and budget asks will benefit affordable home development and the low income housing tax credit program.

  • AB 2817 (Chiu) - A reintroduction of last year’s AB 35 (Chiu), AB 2817 seeks to increase the aggregate low-income housing credit dollar amount by $100,000 for calendar years 2017-2022.
  • SB 873 (Beall) - A reintroduction of last year’s SB 377 (Beall), SB 873 will allow for certificated state low-income housing tax credits to increase their value by avoiding federal taxation.
  • AB 2502 (Chiu/Mullin) - This bill allows local governments to enforce inclusionary zoning ordinances.
  • No Place Like Home (de Leon) - This budget asks seeks to repurpose Mental Health Services Act dollars to generate a $2 billion revenue bond to build permanent supportive housing units.
  • Assembly Housing Budget Ask - In the Assembly, housing-affordability champions are shaping a budget ask to invest $1 billion in proven state housing programs.
  • AB 2031(Bonta) - This bills permits cities to pass laws allowing the issuance of bonds for affordable housing without raising taxes or diverting property taxes from other sources.
