Learn the nuts and bolts of how the following bills will benefit affordable home development and the low income housing tax credit program.

  • AB 1335 (Atkins) – The California Homes & Jobs Act establishes a dedicated source of funding for affordable housing by placing a small fee on real estate documents, excluding home sales.
  • AB 35 (Chiu & Atkins) – AB 35 increases the amount of state Housing Credit available from $70 million to $370 million, thereby leveraging an additional $600 million in federal funds.
  • SB 377 (Beall) – A companion bill to AB 35, SB 377 will allow for certificated state low-income housing tax credits to increase their value by avoiding federal taxation.
