California is in the process of drafting a set of proposals to permit some medicaid funding to be used for supportive services and even rental subsidies for supportive housing for Medi-Cal beneficiaries who are high-cost homeless people and/or seniors who would otherwise be living in nursing facilities. Over the next half of a year, this “1115 Medicaid Waiver” may result in significant changes to Medi-Cal’s response to housing instability.

Sharon Rapport, Associate Director, California Policy, CSH, will provide an overview of the State’s proposals, discuss the Waiver process, and answer questions around potential impact. Doug Shoemaker, President of Mercy Housing California, will speak to the potential effects of the waiver for seniors living in affordable developments.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the Waiver proposal, the process for securing the waiver (and the possible challenges that will arise), and instructions as to what you can do to help make it a reality.

This will be followed by Q & A.
